Cairns Local Division 2 Councillor Rob Pyne, Pat O'Shane AM and Shane Cuthbert jointly announce their candidacy. The self described 'dream team', whom have already achieved and accomplished much aim to add a few new firsts to the lists. If elected, former Cairns MP Rob Pyne will be the first political in Australia to be elected to three seperate divisions, having being elected to Division 2 and 3 previously. Pat O'Shane will be the first indigenous representative on the Council and Cuthbert the first formerly incarcerated individual in Australia to be elected. Cuthbert was sentenced by the former Magistrate O'Shane in 2009 and having reformed, he is now advocating for change, as the President of the Central Queensland University Law Society in Cairns. Triple M shared the announcement with listeners on the 23rd August 2023 through an hourly news broadcast.

Today, victims of crime are rallying together down in Brizzi, a new independent candidacy announcement for the Cairns elections.
A new self titled Dream Team plans to be our next council leaders come election time. The group consists of current Division two Councillor Rob Pyne and candidates Shane Cuthbert and Pat O'Shane.
Mr Cuthbert says the team's full of firsts, He claims, if elected, he would be the first formally incarcerated.
Shane Cuthbert says "Pat O'Shane was also the first indigenous school teacher in Queensland, the first indigenous magistrate in Australia".
Cuthbert and Pyne, are currently running unopposed for both division four and five.
